Volvo installing 500 EV charging stations in Brazil

Volvo Car Brazil intends to install a total of 500 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in Brazil by year-end 2020.

The automaker signed two agreements, one with shopping chain Iguatemi and the other with supermarket chain Pão de Açúcar. Through the partnership, at least one Volvo Charging Station will be installed at each shopping center and supermarket location throughout the country. A total of 250 have already been installed to date (December 2019).

Although the project is being done in sync with the launch of Volvo’s PHEV XC60 SUV and S90 sedan models, the charging network is compatible with any car that complies with the European charging standard.

The chargers can charge vehicles to 100% within three hours.
