Boeing’s flying car takes off

On Wednesday, Boeing’s flying car prototype took off briefly during a first inaugural flight. The autonomous passenger air vehicle prototype is meant to revolutionise urban transport.

The PAV is an electric aeroplane for vertical takeoff and landing. In its inaugural flight, it completed a controlled takeoff, hover and landing to test the vehicle’s autonomous functions and ground control systems.

Boeing is planning to achieve a range of 50 miles with two flying cars capable of carrying two and four passengers each. Tests with a package-carrying version are also in the works.
