Second generation Mercedes CLA first shown at CES Las Vegas

Mercedes CLA at CES 2019

If anyone wanted proof that cars and technology are becoming ever more intertwined, Mercedes-Benz provided just that, premiering the second generation of its CLA four door coupé featuring the further evolution of the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) at the Consumer Electronics Show 2019 in Las Vegas.

The 2019 successor of the first generation of the CLA, dating from 2013, looks sleek and sporty, and features a design that resembles the top range CLS model of the brand, with a distinctive forward-angled front and a long hood with power domes and the typical GT rear end, completed with frameless windows in the doors.

Technologically advanced, the MBUX Interior Assist-function of the new car now recognises control commands through movements, uses augmented reality for navigation and introduces the Energizing Coach-function providing individual fitness recommendations, and, of course, integrates all other modern technologies offered by the brand.

Displayed at the CES is the CLA 250 with its four-cylinder petrol engine delivering 225 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque, married to a 7G-DCT dual-clutch transmission. At launch, a range of diesel and petrol engines will be available, as well as 4MATIC all-wheel drive versions and manual transmissions alongside the automatic gearbox.

The new CLA will be manufactured in Hungary and will come onto the market in May.
