New telematics solution identifies vehicles to switch to electric

Telematics company Quartix has launched a new service to help fleets make the transition from internal combustion engines to electric vehicles.

Quartix EVolve analyses GPS data from vehicles to assess both the distances they travel and the proximity of their routes to public charge points, as well as recommending how many home and workplace chargers are required.

Based on this information and the types of vehicles deployed by a fleet, the system then uses artificial intelligence to identify which vehicles could be migrated to battery power, how this would impact the fleet’s total cost of ownership, and calculates the emission reductions that are achievable.

Quartix will continually update EVolve to take account of new vehicle launches and new charging options, as well as changes in fuel prices, electricity tariffs and EV incentives, so fleets have real time information on which to base their decisions.

Richard Lilwall, Quartix CEO, said: “This tool will help fleets de-mystify the transition to electric vehicles and enable them to make key decisions based on their own real-world telematics data.”

Quartix will initially launch the service in the UK, and plans to roll it out in the US and the rest of Europe later this year.
