Moving from Fleet Tracking to Optimisation

For fleet operators, marginal gains can mean everything. Fifteen minutes clawed back on a delivery or rerouting to save a dollar in fuel might seem trivial, but across a fleet, a continent, and a year, gains like these can contribute to a significant service improvement.

Based outside of Tolouse, Novacom Services is a telematics provider that develops and operates geolocation solutions to track resources and help fleet managers accurately plan efficient routes and monitor vehicles on the road. Its solutions are used by organizations in 100 countries, connecting 50,000 vehicles and 60,000 assets for customers in road transportation, waste management, and humanitarian aid.

Due to a development platform that had difficulties integrating data from multiple sources, Novacom found itself increasingly having to create software updates manually to ensure its customers continued to enjoy high levels of service. This was neither cost-effective nor productive.

With its location offering, HERE was able to help Novacom integrate valuable, new functions to serve its fleet customers across the world. Consistent and real-time mapping information brought into Novacom’s telematics solutions resulted in new fleet management features such as actual traffic conditions for route optimisation and heavy vehicle constraints for road transport.

Learn from Novacom’s experience as well as practical tips on how to:
•    Get mapping and geocoding services up and running quickly – and pass on the benefits to the end consumer
•    Avoid manual work by ensuring consistency between frontend mapping data and backend geocoding data
•    Select a feature-rich mobile offering
