Showcasing the future of mobility at CES 2018

CES 2018, this year's edition of the annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, opens on Monday 8 January. Eye-catching logo of the show is a prototype of a vehicle of the future (pictured).

Underlining the show's growing importance for innovation in the automotive space, three of the show's nine topics have a very familiar feel to fleet professionals with an eye on the future of mobility: Automotive, Startups and the Internet of Things.

As we all know, disruption is the name of the game that's currently underway in the automotive and fleet industries, with connectivity, automation, electrification and sharing in the process of radically transforming today's mobility in to something of which we as yet can only perceive the outline.

New business models are being tested – some will fail, others will thrive. In a few years' time, mobility – including corporate mobility – will have changed beyond recognition.

CES 2018 is a good place to take a closer look at the future of mobility – to a large extent, that future will be multimodal, with Mobility as a Service (MaaS) a central concept. And CES will showcase the tools that aim to construct that future.

That is why over the course of next week we will keep a close eye on the developments in Las Vegas, and report on the developments at CES 2018 with a relevance to the fleet and mobility space. For once, what happens in Vegas doesn't stay in Vegas. Stay tuned!
