In mid-2021, PepsiCo announced it would adopt Tesla's all-electric Class 8 trucks. The first 15 of those Tesla trucks will be delivered by the end of January, it has now been announced.

The new semi prototypes, pictured at Tesla's Gigafactory in Nevada, look like upgraded versions of the Alpha version, developed several years ago. The updated Tesla Semis are expected to be equipped with 4,680 battery cells.

Tesla Megachargers

Following the announcement that delivery of Tesla Semis to PepsiCo was imminent, came news that several Tesla Megachargers had been installed at PepsiCo's Frito-Lay facility in Modesto, California.

These Megachargers are said to charge at 1.5 MW, exceeding the initially announced charge rate by 50%, thus providing a faster charging time for the all-electric trucks.

Following deliveries of Tesla Semi trucks may be slower than expected, as Tesla has delayed mass production of the Semi from summer 2021 until 2023, due to supply constraints.
