Global Fleet Manager of the Year continues career at Ecolab

Almy Magalhaes was elected Global Fleet Manager of the Year in November 2018 at the Fleet Europe Awards. He then was Global Strategic Procurement Executive at Philip Morris International, responsible for Fleet & Mobility, e-Commerce and Distribution, managing a fleet of 23,000 vehicles in more than 80 countries.

Last April, Almy Magalhaes switched employers, and after having worked for thirteen years at tobacco giant PMI he moved to Ecolab, specialist in water, hygiene and energy technologies and services.

At Ecolab Almy Magalhaes continues to lead fleet and mobility procurement but gets the travel management as well for EMEA region.

Almy, congratulations with your new function. Why the move to Ecolab?
“Well, it was the right time for a career switch, after a happy and successful journey at PMI. Ecolab is the global leader in water, hygiene and energy technologies and services. The company represents a growing business, driven by strong sustainability values. I’m looking forward sharing my experience and bringing added valued and at the same time developing my career beyond the FMCG segment, where I was working in for the last ten years. 

Your role seems similar to what you did at PMI, is that correct?
“Indeed. I’m responsible for Fleet and Mobility yes. But the Travel Category is a new role, which includes hotel, airlines, booking tools, car rental and travel agency strategic sourcing management.”

What are your objectives at Ecolab?
“In the first place it’s about strenghten the overall Ecolab Fleet Strategy and Governance, by implementing a comprehensive mobility service framework driven by Safety, Sustainability, TCO and Flexibility goals.”
