Mexico’s largest port kicks off vehicle terminal operations

Mexican port terminal operator SSA Mexico has kicked off operations of its new vehicle terminal at Lázaro Cárdenas port, the largest seaport in the country.

SSA Mexico, which invested 900mn pesos (US$50mn) in the terminal, has received its first two vessels, according to local government news agency Notimex.

Aimed at serving Roll-on/Roll-off vessels (RoRo ships) for imports from the East and exports to Latin America, the Untied States and Canada, the facility is capable of handling 700,000 vehicles per year.

Lázaro Cárdenas is located on the Pacific coast in southwest Mexico in the state of Michoacán.
