South American gasoline prices on the rise

Amidst major events such as the lack of crude oil production in Venezuela, the price of gasoline in South America has been on the rise with Uruguay currently the most expensive at US$1.61/liter.

Chile is ranked second most expensive at US$1.30, followed by Brazil (US$1.18), Argentina (US$1.14) and Peru (US$1.09), according to the Global Petrol Prices website which is updated weekly for most countries.

This, however, does not take the ethanol mixture into consideration. While Brazil’s gasoline mixture is 27% ethanol, Paraguay’s is 24%, Argentina 12%, Chile 5%, and Peru 4.7%.

Countries with the cheapest gasoline prices in South America are Venezuela at a mear US$0.01 (data updated monthly), Ecuador US$0.39 (updated monthly), Bolivia US$0.54, Colombia US$0.81, and Suriname US$0.91.

The price of WTI crude has risen more than 40% over the last eight months, reaching US$71.25 on Wednesday (May 23). As fuel prices highly affect your fleet operations, prepare accordingly.
