Lyft adds 200 EVs to its fleet in Denver
Lyft is adding 200 electric vehicles to its fleet operating in Denver, Colorado. The vehicles will be rented to drivers through its Expres Drive programme.
According to Lyft, the largest barrier preventing its drivers from adopting EVs today is vehicle cost. That's why Lyft is offering EVs as rentals, which should also helping drivers save between $70 and $100 weekly costs on fuel alone.
Lyft said it is striving to make all rides 100% electric over time but the company added it needs partners, like policy makers, regulators, utilities, NGOs and carmakers, to help them address the barriers that are currently preventing widespread adoption for ridesharing fleets.
