EV subscription program Autonomy launches in California

The California-based fintech and insurtech vehicle subscription platform NextCar Holding Company has rebranded under the name Autonomy, an electric vehicle (EV) and zero emissions vehicle subscription program.

For more insight on the transition to electrification as well as vehicle financing models on a world scope, pre-register now for the Global Fleet Conference 2022 in May. See you in Lisbon (Cascais)!

To start, Autonomy is offering the Tesla Model 3 in the state of California, but it intends to expand to other US markets shortly.

The service has three channels by which a customer can reserve their vehicle (in 10 minutes time) and manage their subscription, being through the company website, mobile app, or via a toll-free number.

Founded by entrepreneurs Scott Painter and Georg Bauer, the company also boasts vehicle delivery and dealership pickup processes to occur in under 20 minutes.

The subscription program features a month-to-month contract after a three-month minimum term. And for new electric EV manufacturers as well as legacy OEM’s, this constitutes a new distribution channel, offering a flexible way to drive and test out an EV.

Electric vehicles have reached a tipping point, and it's clear that the Tesla Model 3 is this generation's Prius," says CEO Scott Painter (pictured left)

"Financial responsibility and the avoidance of debt is also at an inflection point and subscriptions have become a pervasive, sustainable business model and a cornerstone of modern digital life," he adds.
