SIXT expands its international network to Australia

SIXT and NRMA has announced a partnership.

The international mobility provider SIXT has partnered with Australian car rental company National Roads & Motorists’ Association (NRMA), adding 160 branches with a fleet of 16,000 vehicles to its global network. As a consequence the smaller partnerships Sixt has in the country since 2005 are now being dissolved.

By partnering with NRMA, SIXT grabs a 13% market share in the Australian car rental market. NRMA represents the largest motoring organisation in Australia, with around 2.7 million members.

The expansion across Australia will enable SIXT to provide mobility services at the country's airports and in the major cities, including Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, accounting for 60% of the traffic in the country.

The largest EV fleet in Australia

In addition to a modern fleet of cars and trucks, SIXT will also offer one of the country’s largest electric rental fleets as the partnership includes 40 MG EV and 25 Tesla Model 3 vehicles, representing the largest EV fleet in Australia today. The partnership will also boost NRMA’s electrification goals, having a 50% fleet by 2025.

Investment in the Australian market is a significant step for SIXT in its expansion strategy throughout the Asia-Pacific market after the launch in New Zealand in 2020.
