GM to launch e-bikes
General Motors has announced that it is to start selling electric bikes in Europe in the second quarter of this year.
A compact bike and a foldable one, will first be launched in Germany along with extremely bike-enthusiastic Belgium and the Netherlands. In its statement, GM said that bikes powered by lithium-ion batteries are already popular in these markets. Depending on market, prices are likely to be around the € 3,000 mark.
GM first announced its e-bike plans in early November. The bikes will be sold under a new brand called Ariv (pronounced, apparently, arrive). Users will be able to charge their bike batteries in around three and a half hours and get up to 64 km of ride time with a single charge.
