Jaguar extends range of I-Pace by 8% with software upgrade

Jaguar has taken technical knowledge gained from the I-Pace eTROPHY race series to develop a range-boosting software upgrade for both exsiting and future I-Pace customers.

Its WLTP rating remains unchanged at 470km, but the improved battery performance delivers up to 20km of additional real-world range on a full charge.

Coincidence or not, Audi announced just two weeks ago its e-tron would also get an updated battery system, improving the range by 25km. However, current e-tron owners cannot benefit from this update as it also encompasses hardware changes.

Jaguar decided to stick to a mere software upgrade, meaning existing I-Pace customers can benefit from the enhanced performance as well. Jaguar is indeed inviting customers to have the complimentary software update installed at retailers.

The enhancements are the result of a better battery management, thermal systems and all-wheel drive torque improvements. The update will also add enhanced Software-Over-The-Air functionality.
