Renault to build entry-level electric SUV in China

Renault is stepping up its e-game with the electric K-ZE, a baby SUV based on the Kwid subcompact crossover sold in India and other emerging markets.

The K-ZE will have a range of 250 km based on NEDC, which means more or less 175 km measured by the stricter WLTP. A new joint venture with Renault alliance partner Nissan and Dongfeng Motor Group will build the electric urban runabout in China.

Interestingly, the K-ZE will eventually also be sold outside the People's Republic: it has been developed as a global car. In Europe it would slot below the Captur and compete with the likes of the Suzuki Ignis.
