Brazil vs Belgium, car fleets ahead of World Cup

Brazil and Belgium play in the World Cup quarter-finals on Friday (Jul 6) but how do they compare in terms of their vehicle fleet.
From January-May 2018, a total of 275,158 cars were sold in Belgium, according to Europe’s association of car manufacturers ACEA, giving the country the sixth largest market in the region behind Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, France, and Spain. The best-selling brands were Volkswagen (27,022 units), Renault (24,820), Peugeot (21,927), BMW (19,026) and Opel (17,260).

As for Brazil, Latin America’s largest market, 794,907 vehicles sold from January-May, according to the country’s motor vehicles distribution federation Fenabrave. The top sellers were Chevrolet (141,462 units), Volkswagen (112,473), Ford (81,379), Hyundai (79,284) and Fiat (66,408).

As we can see, Brazil certainly tops Belgium when it comes to fleet size as many would have guessed. However, will the South American’s be able to top the Europeans during the quarter-finals? Let’s see, and good luck to both!
