BMW leads Mexico premium car market, Volvo on the rise

BMW and Mercedes Benz continue to lead the premium car market in Mexico but Volvo sales are starting to pick up, according to the country’s automotive industry association AMIA.

In August, the top five premium brands sold were BMW with 705 units (down 8.9% year-on-year), Mercedes Benz – including Light Commercial Vehicles - with 517 units (down 12%), Audi with 643 (down 32.8%) Volvo with 135 (up 46.2%) and Porsche with 39 units (down 24.8%).

During January-August, BMW saw 15,859 units sold (-7%), followed by Mercedes Benz - including LCVs - with 13,627 units (-7.5%), Audi with 7,897 (-18.3%), Volvo with 1,334 (+2%), and Porsche with 933 units (-7.3%).
