CAOA seen taking over Ford plant in Brazil

Brazilian car manufacturer and distributor CAOA is said to be taking over operations at the Ford plant in São Bernardo do Campo city in the Brazilian state of São Paulo.

According to sources close to the negotiation, head of the CAOA group - Carlos Alberto de Oliveira Andrade (pictured) - has signed an agreement for the purchase of the unit.

The group, which is already the largest reseller for Ford in the country, will only be producing heavy duty commercial trucks at the facility.

CAOA is expected to hold a licensing agreement similar to what it already has with Hyundai in the city of Anápolis (Goiás state) where it produces the Hyundai Tucsan ix35 as well as the Chery Tiggo 5x and Tiggo 7 (all SUVs).
