GM to build Blazer in Mexico
General Motors will manufacture its all-new 2019 Chevrolet Blazer SUV in Mexico, despite US President Donald Trump's plan to stimulate domestic manufacturing by proposing updates to North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) rules.
"We remain committed to working with the US government for a modernized NAFTA," GM spokesperson Patrick Morrissey was quoted as saying by Reuters, explaining that the decision to build in Mexico was made years ago.
All three main America automakers (GM, Ford and Fiat Chrysler) have claimed that producing certain models in Mexico - where labor is cheap - allows them to be more competitive against their Asian and European rivals.
