GM to launch new Chevrolet pickup in South America

General Motors will launch a new compact Chevrolet pickup in Brazil and Argentina next year (2022), joining the ranks of the Fiat Toro, Ford Maverick, Renault Oroch, Hyundai Santa Cruz, and Volkswagen Tarok.

The new model will be positioned below the S10 pickup and, according to local media, it will be produced at the São Caetano do Sul plant in the Brazilian state of São Paulo and the Rosário plant in the Argentinian province of Santa Fé.

To use the same platform as the Onix (subcompact hatch) Onix Plus (compact sedan) and Tracker (compact SUV), it is reported to be running on a 1.2 turbo engine with 133hp. Although it could be known as the new Montana model, the name of the new pickup is yet to be disclosed.
