Toyota tops best-selling vehicles in Latin America 2021

The Toyota Hilux pickup leads the pack in terms of light passenger vehicle sales in Latin America, selling 132,207 units in 2021, followed by the subcompact hatch Chevrolet Onix with 124,072 units and the compact pickup Fiat Strada with 115,749 units.

The three had market shares of 2.8%, 2.6%, and 2.4% respectivly, according to a report by automotive research and data group Focus2Move. Although it covered a total of 41 countries, the report is highly scewed by Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina which make up most of the Latam market by far.

Meanwhile, Nissan Versa came in No. 4 for the year with 111,252 units and a 2.3% market share, followed by Volkswagen Gol (94,415 units, 2% market share), and Fiat Argo (92,680 unit, 1.9% share).

Wrapping up the top 10 in 2021 are Hyundai HB20 (91,148 units, 1.9% share), Jeep Renegade (89,379 units, 1.9% share), Hyundai Creta (89,379 units, 1.9% share), and Renault Kwid (79,724 units, 1.7% share).
