Argentina on route to one million car sales

Argentina looks like it is on route to reaching one million in car sales this year, with January already showing a 24.9% increase year-on-year to 118,924 units.

Renault led the month with 17,570 units, followed by Volkswagen with 17,181 units and Chevrolet with 16,020. While Renault sold 51% more cars this year, sales by Volkswagen and Chevrolet were up 15% and 30% respectively, according to automotive research and data group Focu2Move.

Wrapping up the top 10 in January were Ford (15,252 units), Toyota (13,060), Fiat (11,584), Peugeot (9,767), Citroen (4,095), Mercedes (2,356), and Nissan. (2,371).

Argentina’s government is pushing to reach one million in sales under its federal automotive plan known as “Plan Un Millón”. Last year, the country sold 892,739 vehicles, second only to its performance in 2013 when it sold approximately 923,000.
