Chevrolet leads LatAm car sales, followed by Ford, Nissan

Despite many Latin America economies slowing in comparison to the first months of the year, quite a few car models are actually selling more this year than last and leading the pack for the third year in a row is Chevrolet Onix.

From January-October, a total of 203,560 units were sold, up 7.9% year-over-year. Ford Ka was ranked No. 2 with sales increasing 13.1% to 140,830 units, according to automotive research and data group Focus2Move.

Wrapping up the top 5 is Nissan Versa (No. 3), up 7.3% to 110,291 units, Toyota Hilux (No. 4), up 4.3% to 109,127 units, and Volkswagen Gol (No. 5), down 20.5% to 106,344 units.

Volkswagen, however, got support from its Polo (No. 9) which saw sales jump 5-fold to 83,861 units during the period. Other models doing well were Fiat Argo (No. 11) and Renault Kwid (No. 12) which both rose more than 3-fold, reaching 73,085 units and 72,256 units, respectively.
