Chevrolet maintains pole position in Latin America

Chevrolet Onix (pictured) is still the best-selling car in Latin America with January-June sales increasing 9.2% year-over-year to 112,349 units.

Holding the top spot for the third year in a row, the success of the sub-compact hatch is quite regional, however, as it was ranked No. 79 worldwide last year, according to automotive research and data group Focus2Move.

Ranked No. 2 during the first semester in Latin America was Ford Ka which saw its sales rise by 17.6% to 83,619 units. It was followed by Renault Sandero (No. 3) falling 22.3% to 53,014 units, Chevrolet Prisma (No. 4) rising 10.8% to 51,947 units, and Hyundai HB20 (No. 5) which slipped 1.4% to 50,869 units.

Meanwhile, the most improved sales result in the LatAm top 10 during the period was the Fiat Argo. It sales jumped more than 22-fold to 40,749 units, reaching No. 8 in 1H18 compared to No. 63 for the same period last year.
