Chile sees double digit rise in vehicle sales

New vehicle sales in Chile throughout the first quarter of 2018 increased 21.5% year-over-year to 98,104 vehicles.

The port city of Coquimbo in Elqui province showed the most improvement, increasing 35% to 2,836 units from 2,102 experienced during the same period last year, according to the country’s automotive association Anac.

Most recently, vehicles sales in March was up 12.5% to 33,255 units. Seeing the most sales was the metropolitan region of Santiago with 19,770 units (up 11.3%), followed by Valparaíso with 3,310 units (up 7.4%), Bío Bío with 2,609 units (up 11.3%), and Los Lagos with 1,420 units (up 14%).
