Colombia car sales up with luxury brand push
A total of 74,578 cars were sold in Colombia from January to April, up 1.7% year-over-year, according to Colombian association of motor vehicles Andemos with the support of national businesses association Andi.
Chevrolet led the period, selling 16,002 units, followed by Renault with 14,635 units, Nissan (6,623 units), Kia (6,419 units), and Mazda (5,919 units).
Despite only seeing sales of some 30 units per month, hybrid and electric vehicle sales during the period was up 91.5% compared to the first four months of 2017. Luxury vehicles also showed a strong improvement, increasing 23.2% year-over-year. The leading brands were BMW, Mercedes Benz and Audi.
