Mexico car exports to US, rise on GM
Mexico automobile exports to the United States rose 9.9% year-over-year in 2018, reaching 2.57 million units, continuing its trend of rising 9.4% the previous year.
The leading exporter in 2018 was General Motors which sent 666,765 units over the border, followed by Fiat-Chrysler with 504,793 units, Nissan (373,515), Ford (250,928), and Volkswagen (208,238), according to Mexico's institute of statistics and geography INEGI.
GM also produced the most cars in Mexico last year, a title usually held by Nissan which is the best-selling brand in the country.
