BYD, Tesla EV battle continues in the Americas

Electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing giants Tesla (USA) and BYD (China) are continuing their fight to lead the worldwide transition to electrification, most recently with BYD scoring a goal in Mexico.

While Tesla sells slightly more full electric cars and SUVs than EV and makes some 11 time more profit, BYD sells far more plug-in electric vehicles (PHEV) and has a bigger order backlog, clean energy portal CleanTechnica reported.

Heavy-Duty trucks In Mexico

In collaboration with Element Fleet Management and renewable energy company Enel X, BYD has delivered five Q3MA electric semi-trailer trucks to transportation company Marva in Puebla Mexico and plans to deliver a total of 120 by year-end 2022.

Meanwhile, Tesla founder Elon Musk tweeted that Tesla is kicking off the delivery of its semi-trailer trucks to PepsiCo on 1 December (2022). The highly awaited and much-delayed vehicles will be first used in California.
