Mazda and Toyota set up manufacturing joint-venture in US
Mazda Motor Corporation and Toyota Motor Corporation have established a new joint-venture company that will produce vehicles in Huntsville, Alabama. The newly-created Mazda Toyota Manufacturing USA Inc. will start production in 2021.
The new plant will have a capacity of 300,000 vehicles, split evenly between 150,000 Mazda crossovers and 150,000 Toyota Corollas. The factory will create around 4,000 jobs.
Toyota and Mazda are investing $1.6 billion in the new project. It is Toyota's 11th factory in the US.
