VW Golf production going from Mexico to Germany
Volkswagen in 2019 will stop producing its Golf hatch in Mexico's Puebla factory, to focus more on the production of its midsize Jetta Sedan.
The change stems from the Wolfsburg Germany employees' union which is seeking to exclusively produce the Golf inside its home country due to a number of reasons, including weak sales in Latin American countries such as Brazil, news portal Motor1 reported.
Meanwhile, VW has been making a number of changes in LatAm. Among them is hiring its new South American CEO Pablo Di Si, preparing to kick off Polo exports from Brazil, and possible plans to stop Beetle production in Mexico in place of producing the Tiguan five and seven seat versions.
