Arval and ClimateSeed support energy transition

Arval is entering into a worldwide partnership with ClimateSeed. With the partnership, Arval completes its offer to accompany its customers on a trajectory towards zero carbon emissions.

Arval is committed to achieving the emissions reduction target set by the Paris Agreement. Since 2018, it has supported its customers in their transition to sustainable energy usage. However, reduction of CO2 emissions does not mean they can be totally eliminated. This is where ClimateSeed comes in.

Nobel Prize

ClimateSeed, a social business launched in collaboration with Nobel Prize winner Mohammed Yunus, is a 100% subsidiary of BNP Paribas Group. It will reinvest all its profits in green projects.

The company’s offer complements Arval’s SMaRT approach by going beyond CO2 measurement and reduction, by offering to contribute to CO2 reduction projects with a strong social and environmental impact.

There are five steps to the cooperation:

  1. Via the SMaRT approach, Arval Consulting establish a CO2 reduction plan for their customers’ fleet.
  2. Arval Consulting then calculate the new carbon footprint.
  3. To offset these residual CO2 emissions, customers get free access to ClimateSeed.
  4. The ClimateSeed platform helps them select and contribute to certified CO2 reduction projects, and will provide a certificate.
  5. As evidence of actions taken, customers get both an external and internal communication kit.

Certified projects

The partnership will benefit all participants. For ClimateSeed, it increases the number of customers for its catalogue of certified projects. For Arval, it reinforces its commitment to lead in sustainable mobility, as specified in the company’s Arval Beyond strategy.

“All projects not only have positive environmental and social impacts, but they also support local communities and protect the planet and its biodiversity,” declares Sébastien Nunes, ClimateSeed CEO.

“In an environment where reliability is key, it is fundamental to offer Arval’s customers the possibility to work with a trusted climate partner to achieve their CSR objectives,” says Shams Dine El Mouden, Arval Consulting Director.
