H-TEC SYSTEMS has launched the most powerful electrolyser among its megawatt class of H-TEC SYSTEMS to produce hydrogen, increasing the efficiency of hydrogen production to a previously unknown level. 

The PEM electrolyser ME450/1400 can generate up to 450kg of hydrogen per day, which can provide the energy needed for 90 cars, or a dozen fuel cell-powered buses. 

The first 40-foot container installation will be delivered in 2020 to the Renewable Energy Company Energy of the North. The company will use it to feed up to three million kWh of green hydrogen a year into the gas grid. However, for the smaller PEM electrolyser, you don’t have to wait as long to buy and install one, since they will be on the market in a couple of months. The first will be delivered to the northern German wind farm Ellhöft, where the wind energy will be converted into hydrogen to be used as car fuel at a nearby hydrogen filling station. A bigger application will be seen in Germany’s largest hydrogen mobility project eFarm to the North Sea coast in Schleswig-Holstein, where hydrogen from wind power will be used to refill cars and buses.
