EPEC deploying chargers to push EV usage in Argentina

EPEC deploying EV chargers to push EV usage in Argentina

To push electric vehicle (EV) usage in Argentina, the energy company of Córdoba province EPEC is installing EV charging points in cities where it holds concessions for electricity service.

While the company had already installed 13 alternating current (AC) charging points by the end of 2022, it is in the process of installing another 15, an expansion plan which was won through a tender.

While four more 22-kilowatt AC chargers will be deployed, a total of 11 direct current (DC) charging points are to be installed along strategic routes to assure recharging access is also given to drivers in more remote areas between cities.

Although EPEC is encouraging the use of its public chargers by offering them free of charge for now, the company will need to start charging for the service soon as it is not feasible to continue the way it is, according to Hugo César Di Tofino who is responsible for Electric Mobility, Technological Innovations and New Markets at EPEC.

According to Mr. Di Tofino, EPEC intends to continue expanding its network through the launch of upcoming EV charging installation tenders, local mobility news service Portal Movilidad reported.
