Mercado Libre EV fleet to top 1,000 in Latin America
Latin America e-commerce technology giant Mercado Libre is planning to have more than 1,000 electric vehicles (EV) – being vans and light trucks - in its Latam fleet by the end of 2022.
The Buenos Aires based company, which closed 2021 with approximately 550 EVs in Latin America, just added 37 new EVs (Renault Kangoo ZE MAXI and JAC e-Sunray models) to its fleet in Colombia.
Supporting deliveries in cities such as Bogota, Medellin, and Cali, the EVs were made possible through
multinational vehicle leasing and mobility company ALD Automotive and local mobility solutions firm Auteco Mobility.
“We have been selected as the renting provider for this operation, and they are all ALD vehicles,” ALD Colombia Managing Director Mathieu Gizon told Global Fleet.
The overall EV transition of Mercado Libre is part of the company's sustainability strategy, which seeks to reduce the environmental footprint and generate positive socio-environmental impacts.
