Toyota RAV 4 receives top awards from Latin NCAP

Toyota’s compact SUV RAV4 has received top awards from Latin NCAP, the Latin America and Caribbean regional car safety assessment program.

It received the highest rating of five stars for both adult and child occupant protection during front, side, and side (pole) impact tests, as well as two Advanced Awards during third round testing for new vehicles in the region, according to Argentina automobile news portal AutoMundo.

Its hybrid powertrain couples an electric motor with a 2.5l combustion engine. Models include a 222hp AD (4x4) version and other 218hp versions, all with seven airbags and an automatic e-CVT transmission.

The hybrid version also features the Toyota Safety Sense security package which consists of a front pre-collision system, lane change alert, automatic high beams, and a last speed adaptive cruise control system. It comes with a transferable five-year (150,000km) warranty and, for its hybrid components, an eight-year (160,000km) warranty.

The Presidents of Toyota Argentina, David Herrero, and Toyota Brazil, Rafael Chang, received the awards from Latin NCAP communications manager Carolina Pereira.
