Ways to invest in sustainable mobility, Brazil

Providing sustainable and efficient mobility is a major challenge in cities around the world today considering the ongoing need to reduce traffic, control air pollution, and manage public space.

This is no different in Brazil where the country’s car and motorcycle fleet has grown by some 400% in the last 10 years, according to international corporate mobility solutions company ALD Automotive which has implemented several sustainable mobility programs in the country.

Besides being a pioneer of the Internationally accredited greenhouse gas certification program “Carbon Zero”, the company has implemented its ALD Carbon Free program, offsetting more than 30,000 tons of CO2 emissions by planting 300,000 tree saplings, equivalent to approximately 170 football fields.

It has also accomplished ALD Smart Drive, a virtual training program which focuses on improving the techniques of drivers, increasing their efficiency, productivity, safety, responsibility, and sustainability.

To further reduce traffic as well as pollution, the company offers car sharing for vehicles commuting short distances (e.g. 50km per day) and has a fleet of five electric cars under its ALD Sharing scheme.

Finally, under the ALD Eco Wash solution (car wash), the company conserves 500 liters of water per wash through 100% eco-safe washing that only requires 300ml of water.

As for the future, the company is in the process of developing other solutions for corporate mobility. Currently, four new projects are being analyzed by the board for future implementation.

With Brazil’s creative culture and the concept of “thinking outside the box”, there is no doubt that vehicle leasing companies such as ALD Automotive will be coming up with innovative mobility solutions in the years to come.
