Grab adds 200 EVs

Singapore-based ride-hailing company Grab is adding 200 electric vehicles to its fleet. In so doing, Grab is joining the list of transport operators familiarising consumers with electric mobility. In Singapore alone, taxi companies ComfortDelGro and HDT Singapore Taxi will add a combined total of 2,000 EVs to their fleets over the next few years.

Grab’s EVs, which will be rolled out from the beginning of 2019, will get preferential rates at the fast-charging stations operated by Singapore Power (SP Group) and at some parking venues in the island-state. Details about which EV model(s) are to be offered were not released.

SP Group will have its first 30 public charging points in operation by the end of the year, and has pledged to install a total of 500 by 2020. Of these, more than 100 will be 50kW-DC fast-chargers that can fully charge an EV in less than 30 minutes.
