Uber partners up with Egyptian Dryve

The partnership of Uber and Egypt’s peer-to-peer carsharing platform Dryve will allow Uber drivers to use Dryve’s vehicles.

By allowing the Dryve Drivers to access their vehicles as well to be a Uber driver, Uber wants to support drivers in Egypt and give them access to flexible work. According to the Head of Uber Egypt, Aghmad Hammouda: “Connecting drivers to vehicles for short-term rentals is a further step towards our goal to make the economic empowerment provided by the ridesharing industry more accessible.”

While the partnership aims to result in more drivers for Uber and more flexible work for Egyptians, it will also increase the occupancy rate of Dryve’s vehicles. Hence, a win-win situation which should boost all involved in the partnership in the long term. In addition, by using shared vehicles, the ridehailing company aims to counter the criticism that ridehailers add to traffic congestion. At least by using shared vehicles for ridehailing services, parking spaces should be less occupied by unused vehicles.
