Smart tyres to reduce maintenance time

Goodyear and Envoy Technologies are partnering up to reduce the operational downtime for vehicles of shared fleets, especially with regard to maintenance. 

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, a supplier of not only tyres but solutions for future mobility as well, will bring its predictive tyre servicing solution for connected fleets on board. This will be used to forecast and automatically schedule tyre maintenance and replacement when needed. As a result, the shared on-demand, community-based EVs of Envoy Technologies will save significant time with regard to its maintenance process. Envoy’s fleet managers will be able to see the entire fleet’s status, schedule maintenance needs and update appointments with Goodyear’s on-demand scheduling programme. The vehicles will be operational for longer and typical tyre issues can be avoided. 

Once a problem is detected, or a maintenance stop is needed, Goodyear can send in its mobile vans to install tyres on-site at the EV charging stations, maintaining vehicle safety while minimising maintenance time.
