Egyptian ride hailing service Halan hits 3 million rides in one year

With over 3 million rides in one year, the ride hailing app Halan has been off to a successful start. The service operates tuk-tuks and motorcycles in Cairo, Alexandria, Delta and Upper Egypt and plans to cover all untapped areas in Egypt.

Halan was founded in October 2017 by Mounir Nakhla, Ahmed Mohsen and Mohamed Nagati to provide ride hailing transportation using tuk-tuks and motorcycles to the masses. The service also caters to businesses by introducing smart technology to last-mile delivery.

The Halan mobile app is only available in Arabic as this is the preferred language among its target audience.

In September, the company has successfully raised an unspecified amount of investment in Series A funding from local and international VCs and from various strategic partners.
