Free2Move debuts in China

Free2Move has launched in Wuhan. It’s the first location in China for French manufacturer PSA’s carsharing subsidiary. The app-based service, known locally as Yiweixiang Free2Move Carsharing, debuts its free-floating carsharing with 300 Dongfeng E30 electric two- or four-seater vehicles.

Users can access the app to locate and book a car and leave it at any available public roadside parking space within the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone. In the course of 2019, the area of operation will grow to cover the entire city of Wuhan, and the fleet will be expanded to 3,000 units, with more powertrains and in other (PSA-brand) makes.

Yiweixiang Free2Move Carsharing is offered by Fengbiao Company, a joint venture between PSA (50%); Wuhan Electric Vehicle Demonstration Co. (20%), a company run by the city of Wuhan; and Dongfeng Electric Vehicle Co. (30%). The latter is a subsidiary of Chinese OEM Dongfeng, which already is a partner and shareholder of PSA in China.

Free2Move already has more than 3 million customers in Europe and North America. “We are now delighted to expand our activity operations in China and today in Wuhan where inhabitants can benefit from a quality mobility solution”, said Brigitte Courtehoux, Groupe PSA Executive VP for Mobility and Connected Services.
