Brazil’s 99 eyes BYD Dolphin to achieve zero-emission target

Brazil-based ride hailing company 99 – owned by Chinese firm DiDi - seeks to have a zero-emission fleet of 10,000 cars in Latin America’s largest vehicle market Brazil by 2025.
With a current fleet of some 1,000 electric vehicles (EV) in the country’s largest city Sao Paulo, this would be a 10-fold increase nationwide in two years’ time. To help achieve this goal, the company is seeking to incorporate the BYD Dolphin in in its fleet, a full-electric compact hatch which was launched in Brazil in June 2023.
99 is currently selecting partner drivers to test-drive and evaluate the vehicle during their daily runs with an aim to improve the overall feasibility and consider the possibility of using the Dolphin for its passenger transport services. The company seeks to reach zero-emissions by 2030.
