Ford sells Spin, Tier enters North America
European micromobility provider Tier Mobility (TIER) has acquired Ford-owned shared electric bike and scooter operator Spin, marking the Berlin-based company’s entry into the United States and Canada.
Being its third acquisition in recent months, TIER is now the global leader in multimodal micromobility service, serving more than 520 cities and communities in 21 countries with a fleet of 300,000 vehicles, the company says.
Aimed at being the best possible partner for cities while building the safest, most equitable, and most sustainable mobility solution for people, TIER is focused on developing new standards and building trust by enabling technology that creates a safer experience for riders, pedestrians and all other road users.
The price of the Spin acquisition has not been disclosed. The two other TIER acquisitions occurred in 2021, being European-based micromobility companies Wind Mobility and nextbike.
