Passenger murder incites Chinese reaction

It is being reported that the Chinese authorities are to conduct comprehensive inspections of all ride-hailing service companies. As Automotive News China reports, this follows the murder of a 20-year-old passenger last month, allegedly by a driver from Didi Chuxing.

The murder of the passenger who rode in a Didi vehicle took place in the eastern city of Wenzhou, and was the second such incident involving Didi since May.

In a statement posted on its official account on China's Weibo website, Didi Chuxing says: “We accept the supervision and will do our best to improve our services to ensure the safety of the public”.
