Colombia cuts import tax on electric, natural gas vehicles

To improve air quality and stimulate more sustainable mobility, Colombia has reduced its tariffs on the import of electric and natural gas vehicles.

By way of decree No. 2051 (2019), the Ministries of Environment, Trade and Finance have reduced the import tariff on natural gas vehicles to 5% from 35% and have also omitted tariffs on all electric vehicles. There is no limit on the number of vehicles this may be applied to.

In the first semester of 2019, nearly 23,000 electrified vehicles were registered in the country but only about 200 or so were full electric.
