Uber fights back at San Francisco Airport

After the plan of the San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to move ridehailing pickups away from the terminals to a parking garage, Uber has started a petition to fight back.

In order to remove at least 45% of the ridehailing activitiy from the terminals, SFO decided to move the pickup spots at the domestic terminals to a dedicated car park, the Domestic Hourly Parking Garage. The move is intended to reduce traffic congestion and keep average speeds at 15mph.

Yet, Uber started a petition to keep its pickup spots at the terminals, quoting that the move would actually increase traffic congestion while increasing inconvenience for riders and decreasing earnings for drivers.

The plan will go into effect as from 3 June.
