Didi and BP provide EV charging
Didi Chuxing, the leading Chinese ride-hailing company, will form a joint venture with BP to provide charging infrastructure to both Didi and non-Didi EV drivers.
The Chinese ride-hailing company has announced it will team up with BP to expand the current charging infrastructure. Since China is the world’s largest EV market, there is a huge need to scale up the Chinese charging network and BP and Didi are choosing to play a significant role in this story. In addition, the current trade war between the US and China might boost the Chinese startups and EV market to increase their own EV (charging) services.
As a matter of fact, BP has already linked its first charging site in the Chinese city of Guangzhou with Didi’s car services platform, the platform makes part of Didi’s aut services business, called XAS,in which Didi invested about $1 billion last year.
