Having launched its first Robotaxi service in 2019, WeRide has now introduced Robovan, the first level 4 autonomous cargo van in China.

The company is working with Chinese battery-electric automaker Jiangling Motors (JMC) to design purpose-built models for mass production. The vans will be equipped with the WeRide autonomous driving (AD) system and are based on JMC’s BEV model of a cargo van.

The first express delivery customer

WeRide’s technology includes HD maps (built in-house) and a series of integrated sensors that enable real-time location monitoring and data. The van can even drive through tunnels less than 1km in length and the first customer, ZTO Express, will acquire and use the Robovan to offer express delivery services.

In the near future, the Robovan will be able to provide delivery services, day and night, in any kind of weather.
