Privacy4Cars receives new patent to increase the privacy of vehicles

Privacy4Cars, which is the first technology company to address the privacy and security issues of connected vehicles, secured a fourth patent to extend the protection of consumers and automotive businesses.

The newest patent granted by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office covers removing private information from a vehicle through a user computing device. Privacy4Cars is continuously growing its customer base, including auto finance companies, fleets, fleet management companies, dealerships and OEMs, as awareness and regulations on privacy are becoming more critical. Privacy4Cars is also seen as an educative source by several industry associations, which seek to educate their members on privacy.

CEO and founder of Privacy4Cars, Andrea Amico, says: "Used vehicles resemble unencrypted hard drives full of consumers' sensitive data", creating several challenges including obligations such as the new Safeguards Rule, which will come into effect in December 2022. Amico also underlines that federal and local agencies in the U.S. are increasingly concerned about the sensitive information vehicles gather and store, pushing auto businesses to look for data removal solutions.

The new patent will enable the technology to remove data from the vehicles and create detailed compliance logs, proving the privacy efforts.

Privacy4Cars' solutions are available in the US, Canada, the U.K., the European Union, the Middle East, India and Australia. Privacy4Cars announced in January its partnership with CarLotz, one of the largest consignment-to-retail used vehicle marketplaces in the U.S., which uses Privacy4Cars' tech to remove all personal information from used vehicles.
